Ken Warger was involved with the Clarkstown hockey program for 30 years as both a high school player and then coach. Ken played in the first varsity game in Clarkstown history, in December of 1973, and assisted on the teamís first goal ever scored. In his last game as a senior, Wargerís team beat Suffern in the Section 9 title game.
After graduating from Clarkstown high school in 1976, Ken played four years of college hockey and majored in English at Lawrence University in Wisconsin. Warger returned to Clarkstown to teach high school English and coach the Varsity North hockey team beginning in 1980.
Over the next 26 years, the Rams won six league titles, two sectional titles, and one trip to Utica in 2002, losing to Salmon River in the NY State championship game. The 2003 team was headed back to Utica with a spectacular unbeaten season of 27-0 until being upset in the State Regional game against Greece Thunder. During the years 2001-2006, Warger coached the state ranked Rams to a remarkable streak of 120 wins with only 20 losses.
Warger retired after the 2006 season with 294 career wins. Looking back over a long, memorable career, Ken misses the spirited competition against Section I rival teams and their coaches who he considers old friends. Warger still vividly remembers coaching his first Section 9 game in 1980, a humbling 17-1 loss to Suffern and their legendary coach John Orlando.
For the past 12 years the annual Clarkstown North alumni game is played at Thanksgiving when dozens of Wargerís former players gather to relive the glory days of their youth. For 30 years, Warger devoted each winter to Clarkstown hockey. His life was enriched beyond words by the friendships formed with fellow coaches, parents, and especially his Ram teammates who played the most exciting sport on earth. Ken now lives in the Hudson Valley with his lovely wife Catherine and their young son Kieran.

Ken was inducted into the New York State High School Hockey- Hall of Fame, March 2013, for his dedication to the sport as a truly great player and coach who has contributed noteworthy service to New York State high school hockey.

The New York State High School Hockey- Hall of Fame, located in the Lake Placid Olympic Center's '80 Rink hallway,  recognizes former outstanding Players, Coaches and Teams that have contributed noteworthy service to New York State high school hockey..
