Al Maerz, a native of Rochester, and Physical Education teacher at Dake Middle school, was the Head Coach of Irondequoit High School from the 1973-74 season to the 1994-95 season.   While at Irondequoit, Al posted at 303-146-20 record, and coached his teams to 7 Divisional Championships, 5 Sectional Championships, coached 18 winning seasons, including 14 consecutive winning seasons, and was voted MCHSHL Division 1 Coach of the Year, 4-times.

 

Al was inducted into the New York State High School Hockey- Hall of Fame, March 1998, for his dedication to the sport as a truly great coach who has contributed noteworthy service to New York State high school hockey.
 
 

The New York State High School Hockey- Hall of Fame, located in the Lake Placid Olympic Center's '80 Rink hallway,  recognizes former outstanding Players, Coaches and Teams that have contributed noteworthy service to New York State high school hockey.
